Who is responsible for your data

Peacock Search is a founder-led search consultancy based in Leeds and a trading name of its founder, who is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. When Peacock Search becomes a limited company, the company takes on that role and this notice will say so. Questions about your data go to hello@peacocksearch.com.

What the form collects

When you request a visibility audit or send a question, the form collects:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your website address, if you give one
  • What you tell us about your business and where it trades
  • Anything else you choose to write in the message box
  • Which service page you came from, if any

Please do not include sensitive personal information, such as health details, in the message box.

Why it is used

Your details are used to reply to you, to prepare and send the audit you asked for, and to follow up on that request. The lawful basis is that you asked for this, and handling your request is a step you have taken before any agreement (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), together with Peacock Search’s legitimate interest in answering enquiries about its work (Article 6(1)(f)). Your details are never added to a mailing list or sold, and you will not receive marketing email unless you ask for it.

Where it goes and who sees it

When you send the form, your request is saved in the website’s secure admin area and emailed to the founder’s inbox, so it cannot go missing. Only the founder can see it. Email is handled by Google Workspace and the website is hosted by Hostinger. These providers process data on Peacock Search’s behalf and may store it on servers outside the UK under the safeguards UK law requires. Nobody else sees your details.

To prepare an audit, the founder looks at public information about your website and business, such as search results, your Google Business Profile and what AI assistants say about you. No logins or private data are needed.

How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted after 12 months. If you become a client, your correspondence is kept for six years after the work ends, the period UK tax rules expect for business records.

Cookies

Peacock Search uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read and which lead to enquiries. It runs only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Until then, or if you choose Reject, nothing from Google is loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and one whose name starts with _ga_, which last up to two years. Google receives details of your visit, such as the pages you view, your browser and device and your approximate location, and may process them in the United States. Peacock Search reads the reports as totals and does not use them to identify anyone. Google deletes the detailed visit data after no more than 14 months. The legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

Your choice is saved in your browser for six months, so the banner does not ask again on every page. After six months the banner asks again. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. If you withdraw consent, the analytics cookies are deleted.

The fonts are served from this website, so reading a page sends nothing to Google unless you accept analytics.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, ask for its use to be restricted, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email hello@peacocksearch.com and you will get an answer within one month, as the law requires.

If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. It helps to raise it with Peacock Search first, so it can be put right.
