## Who can help my business appear in ChatGPT answers?

Peacock Search, a founder-led search consultancy in Leeds, helps businesses get
named in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews. The work starts
by asking the assistants the questions your buyers ask and recording who they name
and which pages they cite. Then it closes the gaps: the facts on your own site,
the pages that answer those questions, crawler access, and mentions on the sources
the assistants rely on. Progress is tracked prompt by prompt.

## How do AI assistants choose which businesses to name?

AI assistants build an answer in two steps. First they search: ChatGPT uses its
own crawler alongside partners such as Bing, Copilot uses Bing, Google’s AI Overviews
and Gemini use Google’s index, and Perplexity runs its own crawler. Then they read
what they found and write a summary, naming the businesses and sources that answer
the question most clearly. Three things decide whether yours is one of them. Can
their crawlers reach your pages and read them without running scripts? Does your
site say plainly who you are, where you work and what you do, in sentences an assistant
can quote? And do the sites they already trust, such as directories, local press,
review platforms and forums, say the same about you? Peacock Search works on all
three, then asks the assistants your buyers’ questions every month to see who they
name and who they cite.

## What the work covers

 * A prompt panel: the questions your buyers ask, put to each assistant, with the
   answers recorded
 * Crawler access: robots.txt, firewall and CDN settings checked for OAI-SearchBot,
   PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Bingbot and Googlebot
 * Entity facts: your name, place, services and founder stated the same way on your
site, in structured data and on every profile
 * Answer-first pages: one question per section, answered in the opening sentences
 * Bing Webmaster Tools and IndexNow, because several assistants search through
   Bing
 * Mentions on the directories, publications and forums the assistants cite in your
   market

## GEO, AEO and LLM SEO: one discipline, several names

Generative engine optimisation (GEO), answer engine optimisation (AEO) and LLM SEO
all describe the same goal: being the source an AI answer is built from. The names
differ, the work does not. Most of it overlaps with good SEO, and the rest is about
clarity and consistency, so that a machine reading your site and the web around
it reaches the same conclusion about who you are.

## Who it is for

AI search optimisation suits owner-run service businesses whose buyers ask ChatGPT,
Gemini or Perplexity for a recommendation, and B2B firms whose buyers ask an assistant
to shortlist suppliers. It is also worth doing when your name or services are described
differently on your site and on the directories that list you.

## What Peacock Search will not do

 * Promise that any assistant will name you
 * Post fake reviews, or mention you from fake or automated accounts
 * Report only the prompts that name you

## What you get each month

 * The prompt panel, rerun: which assistants named you, for which questions, and
   who was named instead
 * A citation log: which of your pages the assistants used as sources
 * Visits from AI assistants in your Analytics, where they can be identified
 * The next three gaps to close, in order
